Fans of EA Sports’ video game,Madden 19, noticed a peculiar edit to the game’s soundtrack on Thursday. When Big Sean’s verse to the song, ‘Big Bank,’ played in the game, a mention of Colin Kaepernick’s name was edited out as if it was profanity.
Big Sean took to Twitter on Thursday shortly after he caught word of it and voiced his disappointment in EA and the NFL for evidently scrubbing the mention of Kaepernick.
“It’s disappointing and appalling NFL & EA took Kaepernick name out of my verse on Big Bank for Madden 19, like it was a curse word,” Big Sean wrote Thursday in a message posted to his verified Twitter account. “When he’s not a curse, he’s a gift! Nobody from my team approved any of this.”
EA Sports late Thursday apologized, saying it accidentally edited the song because they do not have rights to include Kaepernick’s likeness in the game. The company said the unedited song will appear in the game through an update.
