We are already witness to Oprah’s ability to defy odds, achieve beyond expectation, open doors for others, and overall continue to show her caring nature on her journey to expose truths and change hearts. After accepting the Cecil B. Demille Award sunday for lifetime achievement Oprah gave a very compelling speech speaking on the #metoo movement.
Oprah’s speech captured the audience both present and at home delivering a very clear message saying “I’ve interviewed and portrayed people who’ve withstood some of the ugliest things life can throw at you, but the one quality all of them seem to share is an ability to maintain hope for a brighter morning, even during our darkest nights. so I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say “Me too” again.”
There are many women and men that suffer in silence of the sexual mistreatment in and out of the work place. These people are coming forward and speaking up so that others don’t have to suffer.
The “Me too” movement objective is to denounce sexual assault and harassment in the wake of recent sexual misconduct allegations. It’s meant to empower women and teach them that they do not deserve to be treated as sexual objects and to encourage those who have been victimized to speak up so that it will not happen to someone else.
I Sugar Cosby stand by Oprah Winfrey and the #metoo movement.
