Nelly Says The Early 00s Were The Hardest For Him

(GEMS RADIO)—Nelly says the beginning of the new millennium was the hardest for him in terms of competition amongst rappers. He claims that New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta were the cities that dominated that era of hip hop.

“You gotta understand, my era of music was the toughest era in Hip Hop ever. Ever! When I put out songs, I had to go against DMX, JAY-Z, Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Ludacris. All of us are fighting for one spot! So from ’99 to 2008-2010, it’s the hardest era ever to get records,” says the St. Louis rapper.

Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul also agreed with Nelly on the fact that the early 2000s were very competitive for hip hop.
