(GEMS RADIO)—Snoop Dogg has been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The legendary rapper was nominated for the 54th Annual Induction & Awards Gala this past Monday. The awards ceremony will be held in New York City on June 15.

He is nominated in the performing songwriter category. His competition? Patti Smith, Blondie, and R.E.M.

“Broadus’s prominent vocals on Dr. Dre’s 1992 solo iconic album, The Chronic, fueled his rapid ascent to stardom resulting in his debut 1993 solo album, Doggystyle, produced by Dr. Dre, being the first album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as #1 on the Popular Albums chart and Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts,” his Songwriters Hall of Fame description reads.

If voted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Snoop would join the likes of JAY-Z, Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, and Pharrell.
