(GEMS RADIO)—Takeoff is being commemorated by the rap world and beyond.

The rapper, one third of the rap trio Migos, was shot outside a bowling alley in Houston early Tuesday morning. “Employees notified us of an incident after the party had ended,” said Houston Police Sergeant Michael Arrington at a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “A large gathering of about 40 individuals gathered outside the building… an argument broke out, and a shooting took place as a result of that argument.” So far no arrests have been made.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had this to say: “Young men of color are killing themselves,” he wrote. “They are pulling their guns and shooting and just like that someone(s) is dead. Who do we blame? Activists, rappers, family members, faith leaders must confront this reality. This cannot be our future when our young are dying young.”

Drake sated: “I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on for now. Rest easy space man Take.”

Travis Scott said: “Forever the space cadet. Forever the rocket the most humble the illest 4ever Take.”

BeyoncĂ© changed her background of her own website to a black and white photo of Takeoff with the words “Rest In Power”.
