The spate of shootings in Georgia is nowhere near an end as news of the atrocities continues to dominate headlines. Weeks after the fatal shooting of Atlanta-based rapper, Trouble, the hip-hop fraternity is now processing the shooting of Chaka Zulu, Ludacris’ manager, and business partner. Zulu’s miraculous survival has been however overshadowed by the death of one of the 3 victims of the heinous act.

According to police reports, Chaka Zulu was shot in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. The Sunday night incident occurred in the wee hours of the night near Peachtree Road. Emergency responders reacted swiftly and rushed the three victims to the hospitals. Unfortunately, the Fulton County medical examiner pronounced Artez Benton, 23, of Scottdale dead.

The Incident is Being Investigated

Regarding the cause of the shooting, Police Lt. Germain Dearlove says that investigations are ongoing. However, unofficial reports show that the melee could have emanated from an argument at a Strip Mall parking lot. At the time of press, the Hampton police department has not revealed the shooter’s name as investigations are ongoing.

While speaking to the local media, the former mayor of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed disclosed that Zulu is stable. He also thanked the community for their support and outpouring well-wishes to the family in this troubling time.

Chaka Zulu’s Illustrious Career

Besides his stellar record in service of Christopher Brian Bridges aka Ludacris, Chaka Zulu is an accomplished member of Spotify and Monster as well as the Co-CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace Records. Zulu has also worked with entertainment icons such as Jeezy, Bobby Valentino, Big K.R.I.T, and more.

Despite the runaway insecurity, Atlanta remains the mecca for the Black Entertainment scene. So much so that even the late B.I.G wanted to move to Atlanta in 1996 according to Jay Z’s memoirs. The whole incident also ties in with the gun violence pandemic that America is grappling with lately.
