February’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Was Lit
50 Cent is appearing on the award list because of the February 13th Super Bowl Halftime show in which the Los Angeles Rams floored the Cincinnati Bengals. The performance was a fusion between rap and R n Bs and brought together top-of-the-range artists such as Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick Lamar.
According to Ice-T, the performance was hair-raising for hip-hop fans and it will go down as the most memorable 12-minute performance ever. Dr. Dre was the director of the show and his abilities and competency have not only wowed his peers but also captured the attention of Russell Simmons, Big Daddy Kane, Busta Rhymes, and Xzibit.
The Show Was Marred with Controversies
The success of the show is laudable given the fragile nature surrounding its organization. At one point, 50 Cent alleged that Jay Z wanted him out of the show. Eminem however threatened to bail out which forced Jay Z into accommodating the rapper.
Grapevine news indicates that once 50 Cent got wind of the plot and how a ‘white guy’ threatened to pull out of the show for 50 cents, he got furious and fired shots at Jay Z.
Besides 50 Cent, Dre, Kanye, and the others who performed at the Super Bowl event were also nominated for the Emmy Awards. This is the first time for Ye and Dre to be nominated for this particular award. They were nominated because of their performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
