(GEMS RADIO)—Taylor Swift has released the song “Carolina” to streaming services.

The haunting ballad is off Where the Crawdads Sing film soundtrack. “Into the mist, into the clouds. I’ll make a fist, I’ll make it count. There are places I will never, ever go. Things that only Carolina knows,” Swift sings.

“I wrote the song ‘Carolina’ alone and asked my friend Aaron Dessner to produce it,” she continued. “I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story.”

In the film, Kya is abandoned by her family as a young girl. She lives among the North Carolina marshes. She learns to defend for herself, refusing to go to school and instead teaching herself about nature and taking reading lessons from a local boy who becomes her first love.
