Drake, J. Cole, Megan Thee Stallion among Winners At The iHeartRadio Music Awards

(GEMS RADIO)– The 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards went down at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 22, with LL COOL J as the show’s host. The show celebrated the most played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and apps in 2021 such as Drake, J. Cole ad Lil Nas.

Lil Nas, Drake, J Cole Win Big 

Lil Nas X edged out The Weeknd, Drake, and Ed Sheeran to win the Male Artist of the Year category for thanks to the success of his debut album MONTERO and hits “Call Me By Your Name” and “Industry Baby.”

“A few days ago, I was scrolling on TikTok, and there was this girl telling everybody that they should be delusional, and that didn’t make sense to me,” said Nas as he accepted the award on stage. “And then I thought about it, and I wouldn’t be where I am right now in my life and career if I wasn’t delusional.”

Drake’s record-breaking 2021 albumCertified Lover Boy” helped the rapper take home the Hip Hop Artist of the Year crown in a category that had Pop Smoke, Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, and Megan Thee Stallion.

J.Cole won the Best Hip Hop Album of the Year thanks to his 6th straight platinum album, The Off Season. Adding another collection to his posthumous award was Pop Smoke with “What You Know Bout Love,” from 2020’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon album.

BLEU took home the Best New Hip Hop Artist who edged out Lil Tjay, Coi Leray, Pooh Shiesty, and Bia.

Megan Thee Stallion Wins The Trailblazer Award

Kelly Rowland presented Megan Thee Stallion with the Trailblazer Award for her impact on music.

“I will keep on continuing to be a voice for the voiceless, I will keep on fighting for all the injustices that me, my Black women, my Black men are facing, and I will keep showing up and showing out even in the face of adversity,” said Megan in her acceptance speech.
